If you are looking to buy a solid fishing boat, Bass Hunter is THE option. Bass Hunter Boats has been building some of the best mini bass boats out there on the market for more than 40 years. That's definitely enough time to accumulate a lot of experience!
Bass Hunter Boats has 3 models (Bass Baby, Ex and BH-120) that have an incredible ability to last for a long period of time, and massive stability combined with quietness, which will massively improve your ability to catch fish.
How Wide Are Bass Hunter Boats And Why Does It Matter?
This principle applies to any watercraft. The wider a boat is, the more stability it will have. Bass Hunter Boats are very wide. And yes, one of the strengths of any Bass Hunter Boat is that they are very stable. If stability is a big factor in your buying decision, then you’ve got a winner here. We will go into this with more detail further ahead.
Are Bass Hunter Boats Easy To Transport?
This is (and should be) a deal breaker for many boat owners: Is there a way for you to take your boat from your place to the lake or pond? It’s kind of useless to have an awesome boat if you can’t move it to the pond (unless you want to spend $1500+ on a boat trailer).
And this is a big plus for Bass Hunter. All 3 models fit on the bed of a full size pick-up truck, so you’ll be fine.
One Piece Molded (Good vs Bad Quality Boats)
Bass Hunter Boats are one piece molded. This is a huge differentiator and it is a very important factor. A boat that is made with more than one piece (more pieces=less quality) and with little time, some pieces become loose and they eventually break. Just a little tip: This rule applies to almost any item you can think of (even dressing shoes!).
A two or more piece boat means that they glue the pieces together and those pieces eventually get detached (we won’t get into detail, but this is a sign that the boat [or item you’re buying] has a very industrialized process with little to no handcraft involved, which results in a cheaper, less quality boat that won’t last long).
All Bass Hunter models share the same features:
Storage bag containers so you have somewhere to put the stuff you are not using.
Drink holders so you can leave your drink on the side while you land your fish.
Tall side rails to have your rod and reel in place.
Transom Gusset which will add strength to the boat.
The construction is filled with foam, which will help you float better and it also makes the boat more solid.
Like we mentioned earlier, it’s a one piece item.
The bottom is contoured so it will make it easier for you to handle and it will give you better stability.
Upgraded Seat Options
The seat that the boat comes with already has a swivel. But if you want something even more comfortable, you can upgrade to any of these 2 seats:
Padded Folding Seat:
Millenium Folding Seat:
The Seats Swivel Around
If you want to reach the motor and it’s located at the back of the boat, it becomes tiring to be forcing your body to turn and stretch so you can reach it, and it’s just uncomfortable. And this is where the swivel seats become a key feature.
They are also useful if you want to turn to the side to catch a fish or just to see something in particular. You can simply turn your chair (instead of turning the whole boat). The swivel chairs will make you much more comfortable during the time you stay on the boat.
What About The Materials This Boat Is Made With?
Take our word on this one, the materials used on any Bass Hunter Boat are very resistant. Feel free (or maybe not a good idea) to hit a big rock and other damaging objects and your boat will be far from sinking. It will be fine.
Like we said before, stability is a game changer for any of Bass Hunter models. You can shift your weight from one side to another while standing up and you will be stable. Falling out of the boat is surprisingly easier than flipping it (yep, for real). You can stand on one side with the intention of flipping the boat and it will be quite a challenge.
We do want to mention that it has incredible flotation. If water builds up inside the boat, it won’t sink.
Stability is one of the strongest qualities of Bass Hunter Boats.
What About the Assembly?
It’s pretty straightforward, so don’t worry about it. You basically have to put together the wheels (if applicable) and the seats together with the nuts and bolts. It comes with a guide in case you need it.
Recommended Trolling Motor For Bass Hunter Boats
55 lbs of thrust will work for most situations.
Bow Mounted, Foot controlled – Get the Motor Guide Bulldog.
Transom Mounted – Go for the Minnkota® Endura C-2 Series.
Bass Hunter Boats are not pre-wired for a trolling motor. The best way to go about this is to run the wire under a floor mat.
An outboard motor will fit on it, but you will require the Transom Extension Kit.

Although it is advertised as a two man fishing boat, we actually recommend using this one as a one man fishing boat. It will be a little bit tight if you use it for 2 people. If you’re shooting for a 2 person fishing boat, we suggest you to go for the Bass Hunter EX or the Bass Hunter BH-120.

The EX Boat by Bass Hunter is a low profile stealth fishing boat. It’s great for 2 people. We could say it’s the middle sized one of the three boats.
The Ex Boat fits on a full sized pick up truck bed, which makes it very easy to transport. Huge plus.
It has cup holders and removable storage bags.
