ALX Rods are made in Aiken, South Carolina.

If you would limit us to describe ALX rods in 2 words, they would be passion and perfectionism. That’s what is behind each these amazing bass rods. They are handcrafted, which means there is dust and glue behind each and every single rod that is made. This adds more value that they already have. ALX Rods are made with the highest quality materials. They overdeliver quality and performance in relation to the price.

How was ALX Rods born?

ALX Rods was created by Alex Dziengielewski.

Alex got 2 things from his parents that let him become the person who had the thrive and passion to build this company: the dedication of his father handcrafting woodcrafts, and his mother’s love for knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Alex Dziengielewski- CEO ALX RODS Founder
The combination of the previously mentioned with an uncontrollable inner fire for angling resulted in what today is called ALX Rods.

Back in college, fishing was always a priority for Alex. All his vacations would always be spent renting canoes, looking for the perfect spot to go fishing. His passion for fishing goes way back, since his grandfather first gave him a custom fly rod.

Alex started competing on fishing tournaments. And here is where he noticed all the room for improvement there was. He was far from satisfied with the quality of the rods. And he applied what he learned from his grandfather: he built his own rod, but better.

He built 10 rods, and 8 of them were sold to other tournament anglers. And this is how ALX Rods was born!

ALX Rods has a strong presence especially in the southeastern U.S., and these rods have been used to win tournaments (Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie Angler of the Year award, the 8th Annual Black Bass Championships in South Africa, and numerous local and regional level tournaments).

About the micro guides

ALX Rods uses mid micro Guides on their rods. A micro guide is 3 or 4 millimeters in diameter, a standard guide is 6 millimeters, and a mid-micro guide (which is the one they use) is 5 millimeters.

Why a mid-micro guide?

A mid-micro guide has the best mix of features that complement their rods. A mid-micro guide will provide:

  • Excellent line control because of a smaller diameter. This basically translates into longer casts.

  • Because they have a smaller size, they weigh less, which results in an overall lighter rod. This is great, because the less weight there is on the rod (especially in front of the reel seat), the more sensitive the rod is going to be. Smaller guides equal less weight, and less weight equals more sensitivity.

  • They are big enough to pass leader knots.

  • They are made of stainless steel, which does great in any environment.

What about the grip?

ALX Rods use cork grips, which is a common material. Cork grips are better quality than EVA grips, although they do require a little bit more care and caution. Cork grips are lighter, they are less cold when touching it on cold weather, they have lower damping capacity, which translates in better vibration transmission AKA more sensitivity. (they are 3 times more sensitive than EVA foam grips), and they are less slippery. Here are a few reasons why cork grips are great for bass fishing rods (adding value to any ALX rod):

  • It’s harder for it to absorb water

  • Like we previously mentioned, it’s a lighter material.

  • It does not compress under load. This will provide you a solid grip when you cast.

  • It’s very resistant to abrasion.
