If you are looking for a fishing kayak, 3 Waters Kayaks is probably one of the best options out there. 3 Waters Kayaks is part of Feel Free US, which is a well known brand that manufactures kayaks. 3 Waters Kayaks is a brand that delivers value over price, their kayaks are very comfortable and have amazing features.
3 Waters Kayaks' team is conformed by experienced anglers, designers and craftsmen. This is important to point this out because it means that they understand perfectly their customer's needs. There is nothing better than anglers creating products for other anglers. They know exactly what you need!
The mission of 3 Waters Kayaks is to build kayaks that let you catch Big Fish without the risk of flipping your kayak when doing it or you falling due to poor stability, and for the angler to be comfortable enough to be in the kayak all day long. Their kayaks are stable, comfortable, and extremely resistant and at the same time, they are very affordable.
There are a few key features that make 3 Waters Kayaks stand out from the rest of the other brands:
The Cathedral Hull is one of the biggest features that these kayaks have. To explain this, it's important for you to understand how stability and speed behave in relation to the wideness of the water platform you are at (it applies to kayaks, boats or any watercraft).
The wider your kayak is, the more stable it will be. But the wider it is, the more water you will have to paddle through. This translates into a big loss of speed and a considerable amount of increased effort on each paddle. In a nutshell, wider equals stability, narrower equals speed.
But the Cathedral Hull breaks this rule. The cathedral tri-hull has 2 outer pontoons and a central pontoon. They have deep channels in between.
What this does is that it lets water goes through the channels between the pontoons. This let's you have a wider kayak (which translates in more stability) without having to lose any speed. Cathedral Hulls let you have stability and speed at the same time.
All of 3 Waters Kayaks models have these 4 seat configurations:
You can use it with a low position seat which is great for paddling out to wherever your spot is.
You can use it with a high position seat to have a greater view of what is going on around you.
You can use the recline position so you can just settle in and enjoy it.
And the fourth seat position one is the flip away, which allows the seat to flip up and it doubles as a lean bar when standing. This gives you a lot of stability and allows you to side cast and reel in that big fish.
As you can see, the seat positions adapt to any situation you are in. This is extremely convenient for you as an angler! Another huge plus for 3 Waters Kayaks.
Another key feature for these 3 kayaks is the removable sonar pod. This will let you install a fish finder and other electronics.
There are many more features but these are the key ones.
About Their Kayaks
There are 3 models you can choose from:
Big Fish 105 (10 ft-Sit On Top)
The Big Fish 105 is very comfortable and performs just like a larger kayak, and at the same time, it's more compact. This is a 10 foot kayak. When the size of a kayak is smaller, it's easier control and manage them. The stability and tracking of this kayak is amazing.
Big Fish 108 (11 ft-Pedal Drive)
If there were 4 words that describe this beauty, they would be: big, spacey, stable and fast. This is all thanks to the Cathedral Hull. The pedaling is very smooth. The Pro Fish 108 was specifically designed to fit in with the Pro Fish Pedal Drive, which has an 8 ball steering system (it’s simple and easy to use) in combination with the Beaver Tail Rudder, which will give you maximum power and thrust. It’s a very smooth set up with a 12:1 gear ratio. There is a lot to this pedal drive kayak, be sure to check it out!
Big Fish 120 (12 ft-Sit On Top)
The Big Fish 120 is basically the bigger version of the Big Fish 105. they share most of the same features (with a few small differences). If you want something smaller, go for the Big Fish 105. If you want something bigger, go for the Big Fish 120.
